IG: MakofMemphis owner of HypeLyfe, Mak Clayton is a veteran poet who has hosted many open mics in the city and has had one of the longest open mics ‘Thee Open Mic’ in the city. Mak is an experienced poet we highly recommend to follow to know more about upcoming poetry mics in the city.
IG: WeKeepingItP or website: www.KeepingItP.com is a mixture of younger poets and artists who hosts many open mics that are often held in Memphis City Parks and rooftops! Something very unique for you to experience!
IG: Art_Unplugged_Memphis ran by poet Justin Coleman is a showcase open mic that has been a part of many upcoming artists’ journey’s in Memphis, including Memphis’ own J. Howell! If you’re looking for a showcase style environment with an array of different artists, we recommend to contact!
IG:sir8383 IG:whatthaflodo Grant ‘Sir’ and Ranieka ‘Flo’ Butler are a Powerhouse poetry couple that own SiRenity Entertainment! They host an open mic at PizzaMe pizzeria called ‘Piece of Me Poetry’ and also present many individual showcases for artists to join! They like other platforms showcasing book off professionalism and talent to perform! So join the open mic and show your ‘A Game’ to be booked!
FB: Ninah Rose Maat hosts ‘Word to the Rose’. An open mic that dedicates highlighting many Memphis poetry, veteran greats and allows for many upcomers to be in the room and perform alongside them. If you’re looking to be ‘in the room’ we recommend to contact Ninah to learn more info!
FB: Art House Cafe’ a restaurant built for the foundation and production of Artists well-being and artist projects, as well as civil justices (Memphis Artists For Change) features an open mic often hosted by Founder and poetry veteran Tameka Greer. This open mic is a soul opener for the community, and a stomping ground for many poetry greats and fellowship. If you are looking to speak your truth, eat great food, and make a community impact—we recommend going!

IG: writeoussoul poet Writeous Soul has assisted with a project for Seniors hosting a poetry open mic and several events for teens to attend with their schools. Writeous also works often with the Civil Right Museum and hosts an adult open mic often at the Rumba Room.
www.memphisriverparks.org hosts the Tom Lee Poetry & Spoken Word contest for high schoolers 9-12 yearly for a grand prize! Submissions are typically taken in early Spring to compete in late Spring/Early Summer.
901Homegrown.com pushes for the recognition of Memphis Youth Poet Laureates and dedicates a space to assists youth along their laureate journey as well as assist with youth to adult poetry development. Hosted by Jasmine Settles and co-founders, Memphis Poet Laureate Bria Saulsberry and Akina Morrow— this trio has developed a one of a kind administration of poetry showcasing and talent development for teens and adults alike.
